In Loving Memory It is with a peaceful heart that we share the passing of the beloved mother of Chia Chiu Yuin, our dear friend, longtime volunteer, and generous supporter from Singapore. Her mother Ong Kim Lyian, passed away peacefully at home on 1 August 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Chiu Yuin and her family has been part of our nunnery family for many years now, quietly showing up for us, again and again, from Singapore. We think of all the ways she has supported our nuns, and we can’t help but feel that some of that generosity and warmth came from her mother. In the Buddha Dharma, we’re taught that death is not an ending but a passage. And that nothing we love is ever truly separate from the great flow of things. It doesn’t make grief disappear, but it can soften how we hold it. We’re reminded to be grateful for the time we had, and to send our loved ones onward with as much peace as we can offer. Our nuns are praying for her mother’s peaceful journey ahead. Sending loving-kindness to you Chiu Yuin and your family. Thank you for all you’ve given us. We’re grateful to give something back, even if it’s just our prayers, in this difficult time. 🙏 With deep gratitude and compassion, Tharpa Choeling Nunnery (TCN Facebook)

Loponma Jimpa Lhamo studied at Namdroling in India, where she completed nine years of Shedra (Buddhist philosophical studies). 🙏 Please see our Facebook

New packaging alert 👀 Gugul Sang just got a refresh.
It is the same incense with that warm, earthy, resin-forward scent that instantly makes the environment feel calmer, just dressed up a little nicer. We spent a while getting this right because honestly, the box should feel as good as what’s inside it. Go try one and see for yourself. 🌿

Our schooling nuns recently took part in a 6-day Wall Painting Training Program organised by Devdoka Tole Indrayani Parivar Club in collaboration with Ward No. 2 Office. Under the motto “Preserving Art and Culture Through Child Participation,” our young nuns joined hands with the local community to learn the art of wall mural painting, contributing their creativity and effort to the preservation of local art and cultural heritage. It was a meaningful experience that went beyond brushes and paint. Participants not only learned a traditional skill but also connected with their community and took part in keeping a living culture alive. 🙏 May this be the first of many such opportunities for our nuns to grow, learn, and serve. 🌸 Please see our Facebook

Shitro Puja Concluded on 24 June 2026 🙏 With deep devotion and heartfelt prayers, we have successfully completed the sacred Shitro Puja. Through days of continuous recitation, ritual, and meditation, lamas and anis invoked the blessings of the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities for the liberation of the departed and well-being of all sentient beings. 🪷 May the merit of this puja dispel all obstacles, purify negativities, and bring peace, health, and happiness to all. 🕯️We are very grateful to all our sponsors, supporters, participants and well-wishers whose generosity made this puja possible. Annual Prayers for the 100 Deities, Shitro Puja 📅 22–24 June 2026🗓️ Tibetan Lunar Calendar: 8th–10th Day📍 Kirtipur gompa We are holding this annual three-day puja for the benefit and blessing of all beings. Shitro was written by Padmasambhava and later revealed by Karma Lingpa. The core purpose of Shitro is to guide the deceased. The 100 Peaceful and Wrathful deities are believed to appear to a person's consciousness during the bardo (the intermediate state between death and rebirth). The puja helps the deceased recognize these deities as expressions of their own enlightened mind rather than fearing them, guiding them away from confusion and toward enlightenment. It is also a purification for the living. For those participating or dedicating the practice, it serves to confess and purify negative karma, clear obstacles, and transform impure energy. Thus, this powerful practice brings immense benefit for all sentient beings, purifying negativities, accumulating merit, and supporting the well-being of both the living and the deceased. During the puja, the sangha invokes the mandala of 42 Peaceful Deities and 58 Wrathful Deities. Mantras chanting and many offerings are then made to these deities. The accumulated merits are dedicated the to sentient beings. Paper tablets with deceased names are placed on the shrine. At the end of the puja, these are burned, symbolizing the purification and release of the deceased's consciousness to merge with the deities' wisdom. All are welcome to attend, offer prayers, and receive blessings. May all beings benefit! Please see our Facebook

Today, we commemorate the sacred anniversary of Jetsun Marpa Lotsawa and the great yogi Milarepa.
With deep devotion, we gathered to offer tsok, chant heartfelt supplications, and meditate on the profound blessings of the lineage passed from guru to disciple.
The life of Marpa and Milarepa reminds us of the extraordinary power of a genuine guru–disciple relationship that is built on unwavering faith, humility, perseverance, and complete trust. Through trials, hardships, and fierce compassion, Milarepa purified his obscurations and attained realization under Marpa’s guidance. Their sacred bond shows that authentic devotion and sincere practice transform suffering into awakening.
May we cultivate pure samaya, steadfast dedication, and an open heart to receive the blessings of the lineage. May their enlightened example inspire diligence and compassion in all beings. 🙏✨

Friendship Across Borders 🙏
We are always deeply touched by the kindness and devotion of our dear friends from Hungary, who visit our nunnery in Kirtipur twice every year. Their presence feels like a reunion of Dharma friends, filled with warmth, kindness, and shared aspiration.
Today, they joined us in the sacred Guru Rinpoche Long Life Puja, offering prayers for longevity, blessings, and the flourishing of the Dharma. After the puja, we gathered for a simple yet joyful lunch at the nunnery, enjoying precious moments of reconnection.
Our Hungarian friends also lovingly supported us by purchasing our incense prepared with care and prayers, and by spending time at Kumud Cafe managed by us nuns, sharing coffee, smiles, and heartfelt conversations.
These encounters remind us that the Dharma knows no boundaries. Though we come from different cultures and lands, we meet in the same space of faith, compassion, and friendship.
With gratitude for their continued support and love, we look forward to welcoming you again soon. 🙏
